We’ve reached the season when children and adults alike will be getting active. While we hope everyone enjoys their activities, we know that they could sustain dental trauma. In some situations, especially with full contact sports, teeth could become cracked or chipped, and when dental trauma occurs, care is needed. Even minor damages could lead to an increased risk of tooth decay. Doctors Network can help you book an appointment with an emergency dentist in Cooper Landing, AK who can examine the situation.

The outer layer of the tooth protects the dentition. The enamel protects the sensitive inner structures from bacteria, and from the onset of tooth decay. But when a tooth is broken, it could alter the appearance of your smile. You need treatment even if the damage appears minor. Likewise, you should let us know if you need a Cooper Landing dentist who accepts Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield for less severe emergencies. Sudden toothaches and objects caught between the teeth could threaten your smile. Don’t forget that loose teeth could lead to serious problems as well. You also need care if a tooth filling or any kind of dental restoration is compromised!

Once you contact Doctors Network and begin the search for your Cooper Landing, AK dentist, you should take action by taking a store bought pain medication. A piece of gauze can control any bleeding. Applying an ice pack can ease facial swelling too. If a tooth is damaged or knocked loose, recover the tooth or any pieces and bring them with you. They can be placed in a glass of cold milk or salt water.

It is essential for children to visit a dental professional every six months for checkups and cleanings. By teaching your kids how to take care of their teeth, you are ensuring that they have the skills to have healthy smiles for life. If you are looking for a pediatric dental office in Cooper Landing who accepts Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, you are on the right website.

In addition to offering biannual dental checkups and cleanings, dentists on Doctors Network also provide your child with sealants. Sealants are thin layers of film that go on top of their back teeth. They work as a protective film that forms a shield between their back teeth and germs. This ultimately prevents the risk of infection by up to 80 percent. It is a simple treatment that is very effective at preventing the need for fillings in the future.

Fluoride treatments are another effective tool that your pediatric dental professionals provide. Fluoride is a natural mineral that helps strengthen your children’s enamel layer. While enamel is one of the strongest substances our bodies produce, it can still weaken over time. When this occurs, your child’s teeth become more susceptible to dental caries. Fluoride treatment helps stop decay from occurring. Using fluoride toothpaste can also help. To learn more, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with one of our network dental professionals in Cooper Landing.
