We’ve reached the season when children and adults alike will be playing sports. While we hope everyone enjoys their activities, we know that their teeth could be at risk. Sometimes, especially with full contact sports, teeth could become compromised, and when trauma occurs, you need dental care. Even minor damages could lead to an increased risk of tooth decay. Doctors Network can help you find a dental care provider in Leighton, AL who can repair your smile.

The outside of each tooth protects the dentition. The enamel protects the sensitive inner structures from bacteria, and from oral health complications. But when a tooth is broken, it could increase the risk of tooth decay. You need treatment before your tooth is compromised. Likewise, you should let us know if you need a Leighton dentist who accepts private patients for less severe emergencies. Unexplained discomfort and objects caught between the teeth could threaten your smile. Don’t forget that knocked out teeth could lead to serious problems as well. You also need care if a tooth filling or any kind of dental restoration falls out!

After you contact Doctors Network and begin the search for your Leighton, AL dentist, you should take action by taking an over-the-counter pain reliever. A piece of cloth or a tea bag can be helpful also. Applying an ice pack can ease facial swelling too. If a tooth is damaged or knocked loose, recover the tooth or any pieces and bring them in a sealed container. They can be placed in a glass of milk or salt water.

It is important for kids to visit a dental professional every six months for exams and cleanings. By teaching kids great oral health habits, you are ensuring that they have the tools to have healthy smiles for ever. If you are looking for a dentist in Leighton who accepts private patients, you are on the right website.

In addition to offering checkups and cleanings, pediatric dentists on Doctors Network also provide your little children with dental sealants. These are small pieces of BPA-free acrylic that dentists paint onto their molars. They work as a protective film that forms a shield between their permanent teeth and germs. This ultimately prevents the risk of tooth decay by up to eighty percent. It is a simple treatment that is very effective at preventing the need for fillings in the future.

Fluoride treatments are another proven tool that your pediatric dental professionals provide. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that helps fortify your child’s enamel layer. While enamel is one of the most protective substances our bodies produce, it can still weaken over time. When this occurs, your little one’s teeth become more susceptible to damage. Fluoride treatment prevents this from happening. Using fluoride toothpaste can also help. For more information, please schedule an appointment with one of our pediatric dentists in Leighton.

Over 16% of Alabama residents are over the age of 65, while almost 23% are under the age of 18. For both age groups, personalized dental care is especially important. Older patients often require restoration or prosthodontic care to replace lost teeth; younger patients may need additional ongoing preventive measures, such as orthodontics, to avoid more serious issues later in life. On top of routine general dental care, treatment for seniors and children can cause the costs of your family’s dental care to skyrocket. Fortunately, Doctors Network offers families throughout Alabama a highly affordable alternative to managing dental care costs with a direct dental plan.
