Dr. Michael Atencio knew that he wanted to become a dentist from a very young age. A terrible bike accident in the summer of 1974 left him with a bleeding lip, broken teeth, and lots of pain, and the only solution to his situation was a visit to the dentist's office. Although he was initially scared to go, he was happy he went. His dentist, Dr. Fred Coats, sewed up his lip, fixed his teeth, and relieved him of his pain. Before long, he had his smile back. Dr. Coats’ compassion and warmth towards him during his treatment inspired Michael and from that point on, there was only one thing he wanted to do with his life - become a dentist!

Dr. Atencio graduated in 1983 from Longmont High School and went straight into the Pre-Dental Program at Colorado State University. He then earned his DDS from the University of Nebraska Dental School in 1991. After graduation, Dr. Atencio and his wife made the move to Reno where they still live and work today. With his wife’s father, Dr. Gary Toogood, as his mentor, Dr. Atencio quickly learned all there is to know about treating patients and providing high-quality dentistry. He feels lucky every day to have the opportunity to help those in the wonderful community of Reno improve their oral health and gain confidence in their smiles.

dental-implants-or-bridge

As kids, we lose our baby teeth as a natural part of growing up. However, in adulthood, losing teeth means poor oral health. Periodontal disease could be responsible as well. Since losing teeth at this age isn’t natural, this means oral health complications. You could have difficulties with nutritional intake. Problems articulating are a common consequence. Finally, you could risk impacting your smile alignment, or even your youthful features. You need an amazing Delta Dental dentist in Cedar Flat, CA who can correct your tooth loss. Fortunately, Doctors Network can help you on the road to a full smile.

First, we will help connect you to a dentist in your location who accepts your insurance. After that, your new dentist can inspect your smile to assess your tooth loss. For mild cases, a dental bridge could be placed, addressing one to three missing teeth in a row. For multiple gaps, partials could offer a solution and restore bite function. Finally, a complete denture or CD could be crafted and secured. While most complete dentures and partials are removable, they could be secured with tooth implants. Dental implants are secured like natural teeth, and prevent negative changes to your alveolar bone and facial structure following losing a tooth.

If you live in the Cedar Flat area and have unsightly gaps in your smile, let us help. We can help you get started on receiving the tooth replacement you need. A full smile is possible, even if you’ve suffered complete tooth loss, and even if years have elapsed since that happened!

P. S. Please applaud our dental surgeons in Nashville, TN with us this week.

sleep-apnea-treatment

When you experience a poor sleeping pattern, you may not assume a dentist could help. But in fact, Delta Dental dentists can provide a comfortable and noninvasive solution to treat sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) means that when you sleep, the soft tissues in the throat and the back of your mouth collapse and interrupt your sleep cycle. Patients with OSA actually stop breathing for a few moments until the brain wakes them. Even if you believe you slept well, you’re actually sleep deprived! But when is it time to use the search tool on Doctors Network and find Cedar Flat, CA dentists who could offer treatment with oral appliance therapy?

Sings of OSA include snoring on a nightly basis. Daytime drowsiness, headaches, and trouble with interpersonal relationships could be factors too. Without intervention, the condition could even strain your immune system and increase the risk of high blood pressure. When you notice similar signs and symptoms, consider talking to a dentist. Sometimes, oral appliance therapy can be helpful to keep airways free of obstruction, so you can finally sleep comfortably.

This week we are honoring our dentists near New York, NY.

tooth-bonding

If you have a broken tooth or one that is misshapen, then you need cosmetic dentistry. With tooth reshaping and dental bonding in Cedar Flat, CA, these and other cosmetic imperfections can be corrected in only one sitting. At Doctors Network, we are here to help connect you with a dental care professional in Cedar Flat, CA who takes Delta Dental and can tackle your oral health concerns. You may not believe just how much bonding and contouring can do in only one sitting.

Tooth-colored bonding repairs aesthetic concerns effectively. The composite resin, a mix of glass and acrylic particles, is shaded and placed onto the prepared area. Cedar Flat cosmetic dentists also use this material to fill tooth cavities. With tooth contouring, the dentist actually buffs and sands the outer tooth enamel or restoration to correct the appearances of cosmetic concerns.

Today we are honoring our Brooklyn cosmetic dentists. Between both services, these dentists will be able to reshape malformed teeth, tackle dental emergencies, mask teeth stains, and even close gaps between teeth.

When we are kids, many of us clench our teeth for short periods of time. The issue tends to pass on its own. But for some, bruxism could mean chronic teeth grinding into and throughout adulthood, and the pressure from clenching your teeth could damage your smile. Cracks, chips, and worn-down structures could cause discomfort. You’re also more likely to develop cavities or even dental abscesses, which is why if you notice changes to your teeth, you should consider using Doctors Network’s search tool to find a dental practice in Cedar Flat.

Your partner or spouse may let you know you grind your teeth in your sleep. Otherwise, symptoms could include jaw pain and headaches. Treatment options vary. Some dentists bring relief by addressing the underlying factors. They could correct misalignment with orthodontics, or even replace missing teeth with prosthetics. Many offer treatment with custom and comfortable occlusal splints. So don’t ignore the possible warning signs, talk to us about finding the right dentist in your area who accepts Delta Dental.

There is no substitute for a full smile, but as we age, many of us struggle with missing teeth. Missing teeth could lead to difficulty with eating and speaking, and can even lead to an older appearance. To treat tooth loss, people often turn to implants and fixed dentures. Unlike traditional prosthetics, such as dentures or fixed partial dentures, these are connected to posts that act as new roots. Crowns or even prosthetics like full and partial dentures are securely attached to these implant posts. These then act as new roots, so your new teeth can last not ten years, but far much longer with proper care and attention.

Are you ready to replace missing teeth with dental implants? If you are wondering how much a dental implant costs near Cedar Flat, you are not alone, but first, you should find a Cedar Flat dentist who can offer tooth replacement. Doctors Network’s search tool can help you with this, connecting you to a dentist who not only can address your concerns about missing teeth, but also takes Delta Dental. Same-day appointments are usually available. You can even sign up for a Doctors Network membership plan to reduce the cost of your treatment.

The dentist will take a close look at your smile. Underlying factors may need to be considered before moving forward. But once completed, your dental implants will offer new teeth that look and function like natural ones!

I'm a freelancer, so I can't buy insurance easily, so I always ended up paying a lot for doctors' visits. I signed up for a Doctors Network dental plan, and my dental cleanings cost only $25 now. If you don't have dental insurance I highly recommend it.
