Dr. Greg Hawkins knew that dentistry was his calling after his own dentist helped him deal with a bad oral health situation as a child. He realized that he wanted to do the same for others and started on the track to becoming a dentist. Dr. Hawkins attended Holly Pond High School, then went on to Auburn University where he completed his undergraduate studies by 1983. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 1988. Since then, he has been a practicing dentist, working closely with his patients to treat their conditions and provide them with long-lasting solutions.

As adolescents, we lose our primary teeth as a natural part of growing up. However, in adulthood, losing teeth is caused by oral health issues. Gum disease is the number one cause. Since losing teeth at this age isn’t natural, this means oral health complications. You could have problems eating. Problems articulating clearly may develop. Finally, you could risk impacting your smile alignment, or even smile’s stability. You need a professional and friendly in-network dentist in West Point, AL who can correct your tooth loss. Fortunately, Doctors Network can help you on the road to a full smile.

First, we will connect you to a dedicated dentist near you. Once we do, your new dentist can examine your smile to understand the factors behind your tooth loss. For minor cases, a dental bridge could be the best option, restoring smile function. For multiple missing teeth, partials could offer a solution and address complicated tooth loss. Finally, a complete denture could be crafted and secured. While most complete dentures and partials are removable, they could be secured with tooth implants. Dental implants essentially look and function like natural teeth, and prevent negative changes to your jaw and facial structure following losing a tooth.

If you live in the West Point area and have unsightly gaps in your smile, let us know. We can help you get started on receiving the tooth replacement you need. Model-worthy teeth are within reach, even if you’ve suffered complete tooth loss, and even if years have gone by since that happened!

P. S. Please applaud our dental surgeons in Nashville, TN with us this week.

You can’t put a price on showing off a perfect smile, but as we get older, many of us struggle with the loss of natural teeth. Missing teeth could lead to trouble with eating and speaking, and can even lead to a prematurely aged appearance. To treat tooth loss, people often turn to dental implants. Unlike traditional prosthetics, such as dentures or bridges, these are connected to posts inserted into your jaw. Crowns or even prosthetics like full and partial dentures are securely attached to these implant posts. These then act as new roots, so your new teeth can last not ten years, but far much longer with proper care and attention.

Are you ready to address unsightly gaps with dental implants? If you are wondering how much a dental implant costs near West Point, you are not alone, but firstly, you should find a West Point dentist who can offer implant dentistry. Doctors Network’s search tool can help you with this, connecting you to a dental professional who not only can address your tooth loss, but also takes walk-in patients. Same-day appointments are usually available. You can even register for a Doctors Network membership plan to reduce the cost of your procedure.

The dentist will assess the state of your smile. Underlying oral health concerns may need to be addressed before moving forward. But once completed, your dental implants will offer new teeth that look and function like natural dentition!

Oral health declines when we lose natural teeth. Obviously, there are problems with eating your favorite foods. Even speaking clearly could be a problem. However, the major problem is the loss of mass and density in the jaw. This weakens the jaw, and could even cause patients to look older. More importantly, this limits dental implant placement. Additional treatments could be necessary to strengthen the jaw in order to make tooth replacement possible! Fortunately, Doctors Network could help you book an online appointment with a great West Point oral surgeon who is in-network with Doctors Network Discount Dental Plan and performs this care. In addition, we could also discuss our membership program to make care affordable!

Ridge preservation is also referred to as ridge augmentation. Essentially this enables the dentist to preserve the ridge in your mandible. Your dentist could use a number of different options. We could take tissue from the back of the jaw or the hip. Donor materials such as bovine bone particles may be recommended too. Some opt for synthetic materials. Through oral surgery, these are applied to the areas of weakened structure in the mandible bone.

Once the area heals, the dental implants could be placed. The body will see them as natural structures. As a result, they help prevent any further breakdown in the jaw, preserving your smile. Our team can connect you to a dentist or oral surgeon in West Point, AL who performs ridge augmentation and dental implants, and also let you know about our dental discount plan to make sure your treatment fits in your budget!

Tooth loss could lead to major issues for your smile. For example, this could impact how easily you eat your favorite foods, or how clearly you can talk. But the most severe complication is the loss of integrity in the jaw. The body suspends the flow of phosphate and calcium to the areas without tooth roots, which in turn causes bone loss and an aged appearance and weakens the structure significantly. Which means you may not be able to receive dental implants to address gaps in your smile. But Doctors Network can connect you with a dentist in West Point, AL who can strengthen your smile.

As we’ve discussed in previous posts, a bone grafting procedure helps strengthen the mandible, so it can support dental implants. But what about the upper arch? Instead of adding new tissue, your West Point dentist could perform a sinus lift. Essentially, the dentist will raise the sinus floor to generate new bone structure. The new structure can support one or more implants. Once the new teeth are secured, this stimulates the growth of bone tissue to preserve the area. Your new teeth can then last for decades to come, possibly even a lifetime.

If you need to strengthen your weakened maxillary jawbone to support a new smile, we could help. Our team can connect you with a West Point, AL dentist who can offer a sinus lift and takes new patients. When your smile is strengthened and ready, dental implants could provide a complete smile again. If you don’t have dental insurance, don’t let this stand between you and optimal oral health. Instead, talk to our team about our financing option. With a monthly membership fee, you can have treatments discounted by as much as 90% in some situations. A full smile can happen!

It is paramount for children to visit the dentist every six months for dental visits and cleanings. By teaching your children preventative measures to protect their teeth, you are ensuring that they have the knowledge to have healthy smiles for many years. If you are looking for a pediatric dental professional in West Point who accepts patients with no dental insurance, you are on the right website.

In addition to offering biannual dental checkups and cleanings, dentists on Doctors Network also provide your child with protective sealants. These are small pieces of BPA-free acrylic that dentists paint onto their molars. They work as a protective film that forms a protective layer between their back molars and bacteria. This ultimately prevents the risk of dental caries by up to 80%. It is a simple procedure that is very effective at preventing the need for fillings in the future.

Fluoride treatments are another great tool that your dentists provide. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that helps fortify your child’s enamel layer. While enamel is one of the strongest substances our bodies produce, it can still weaken over time. When this occurs, your little one’s teeth become more susceptible to dental caries. Fluoride treatment helps stop decay from occurring. Using fluoride toothpaste can also help. For more information, please schedule an appointment with one of our pediatric dentists in West Point.

Over 16% of Alabama residents are over the age of 65, while almost 23% are under the age of 18. For both age groups, personalized dental care is especially important. Older patients often require restoration or prosthodontic care to replace lost teeth; younger patients may need additional ongoing preventive measures, such as orthodontics, to avoid more serious issues later in life. On top of routine general dental care, treatment for seniors and children can cause the costs of your family’s dental care to skyrocket. Fortunately, Doctors Network offers families throughout Alabama a highly affordable alternative to managing dental care costs with a direct dental plan.
