Oral Surgery Procedures

When oral health concerns require surgical intervention, an oral/maxillofacial surgeon can perform complex procedures to restore both the functional and esthetic aspects of your smile. Oral surgery includes simple and surgical tooth extractions, such as the careful extraction of impacted wisdom teeth. It can also include the surgical placement of dental implants, as well as bone grafting to strengthen your jaw before implant placement.

Oral surgeons are trained in a hospital setting for a minimum of four years in addition to attaining their dental degrees, gaining experience in general surgery, anesthesiology, and more. In addition to complex dental procedures, oral surgery may also include biopsies to diagnose oral cancer and procedures to help treat it, if necessary.
