Dr. Payet attended the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry and graduated in 1998. He's been a practicing dentist in Charlotte, North Carolina, ever since. However, Dr. Payet is what he calls an "eternal student," meaning he is always taking new opportunities to expand his knowledge and become a better dentist. He completed a rigorous program in 2021 to become a Qualified Dentist in the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM). In 2023, Dr. Payet hopes to pass the test required for him to become a Diplomate in the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. As of 2023, Dr. Payet also completed an intense 2-year post-graduate program to become an Educator in the RipeGlobal Restorative Virtual Residency.

His dedication to the field of dentistry was recognized in 2022 at the Academy of General Dentistry Convocation ceremony where he was recognized as a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). He hopes to become a Master of the AGD (MAGD) in the next few years.
