Dr. James Childress has dedicated over 40 years to providing exceptional dental care, driven by a commitment to excellence. He earned his undergraduate degree in Zoology from UC Davis, graduating with High Honors and membership in Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi national honor societies. His time at UC Davis was also marked by a transformative year abroad in West Africa, as well as his involvement with the Varsity Tennis Team. Dr. Childress pursued his dental education at UC San Francisco School of Dentistry, where he excelled in clinical practice, earning several awards for his outstanding work. He also served as class president and was inducted into the Omicron Upsilon Kappa National Dental Honor Society. After dental school, Dr. Childress continued his education with a prestigious general practice residency at UCLA, where he deepened his expertise in restorative, diagnostic, and surgical dentistry. Early in his career, he returned to UCSF as a clinical instructor, where he received the Most Outstanding Instructor Award. As a dentist in Davis, Dr. Childress has earned a reputation for excellence in patient care, which has been recognized both locally and nationally. He has been voted "Best Dentist in Yolo County" by Davis Enterprise readers for 20 years in a row and is listed as one of America's Top Dentists by the Consumer's Research Council of America. A strong advocate for giving back, Dr. Childress served as President of the Yolo County Dental Health Foundation, helping raise funds to provide dental treatment for underserved individuals. He continues to volunteer his time and skills at a local clinic, offering care to patients with limited access to dental services. Outside of his dental practice, Dr. Childress enjoys woodworking, cycling, and spending time with his wife Lucinda, their two sons, Parker and Eliot, and their beloved pets, two cats and two golden retrievers, Buddy and Max. The Childress family lives in Davis, where they embrace an active, family-oriented lifestyle.
