Dr. Pei-Yun Kao was born in Taiwan and raised in California. She completed her B.S. in Human Physiology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), before earning her D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Before becoming a dentist, Dr. Kao worked as a dental assistant and front office coordinator, which sparked her interest in pursuing a career in dentistry. She found her passion for the profession by observing the ways it blends art, science, and health, and has since dedicated herself to improving both oral and overall health through patient care and creating lasting smiles.

At UCLA, Dr. Kao was awarded a full scholarship and was part of the Academic Advancement Program. During her time at Tufts, she excelled in clinical training and volunteered extensively, including working as an extern at the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, where she treated underserved populations. She also volunteered in the Tufts Sleep/TMD clinic and was an active member of the American Student Dental Association (ASDA), serving as an elected representative and delegate for four years. Her leadership efforts contributed to programs focused on dental advocacy, health and wellness, career development, and community outreach. She was honored as the ASDA National Delegate of the Year for her dedication.

As a first-generation college graduate and the first dentist in her family, Dr. Kao holds values of hard work, compassion, gratitude, and perseverance close to her heart, applying these principles both in her personal life and in her practice.

Dr. Kao is committed to staying current with the latest advancements in dentistry through continuing education courses, ensuring that she delivers the most comprehensive care using cutting-edge technology and techniques. She is fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Kao enjoys cooking, reading, exploring the arts, and traveling.
