Dr. Paul M. Kaplan, affectionately known as “Dr. Root,” has been a leading Endodontist (Root Canal Specialist) in Rhode Island and Massachusetts for over 24 years. He earned his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine and later completed his specialty training in Endodontics at the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, where he was also awarded a Master of Science degree in the Oral Sciences for his groundbreaking research on Digital Subtraction Radiography.

Dr. Kaplan has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including being named American’s Top Dentist in the field of Endodontics for 18 consecutive years and being honored as a Top Endodontist in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts multiple times. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Kaplan is deeply involved in dental education. He has served as a clinical instructor and professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and Boston University School of Dental Medicine, where he taught post-graduate Endodontic residents. Currently, he leads the Endodontic department and teaches AEGD residents at UMass Memorial Hospital.

Outside of his dental practice, Dr. Kaplan enjoys performing cantorial concerts, teaching tennis and spending quiet time boating and fishing with his family.
