Dr. Michael W. Davis is a dedicated general, cosmetic, and family dentist based in Santa Fe, NM, where he provides high-quality dental care alongside the Smiles of Santa Fe team. He holds a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Massachusetts and began his career as a chemist in clinical toxicology before becoming a biomedical researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry and initially worked as a dental officer with the Indian Health Service in Oklahoma. Dr. Davis opened his first private practice in Maine in 1983.

Recognized nationally, Dr. Davis is an accomplished lecturer, researcher, and expert legal witness in the dental field. Since establishing Smiles of Santa Fe in 2003, he has helped hundreds of patients achieve and maintain healthy, beautiful smiles. He is committed to excellence in dental care and serves as the chairperson for the Santa Fe District Dental Society peer review, as well as a peer review member for the New Mexico State Dental Society. Dr. Davis consults on various issues, including clinical malpractice and patient fraud, and has authored numerous papers on the corporatization of healthcare.

He is actively involved in several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association and the New Mexico Dental Association. Dr. Davis regularly delivers educational seminars for prestigious groups such as the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the International Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. His articles have been published in respected journals, including Dental Economics and The Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry, and he serves on the editorial review board for The Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr. Davis is committed to educating the public about their rights as dental consumers and has co authored resolutions for the New Mexico House of Delegates regarding state dental statutes and ethical advertising. He is known for his seminal work, “Limiting Private Equity Dentistry,” written for dental regulatory boards.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Davis has provided dental care to incarcerated juveniles, participated in the Mission of Mercy, and collaborated with the Indian Pueblo Nations in New Mexico. He has also served as a faculty member in the dental assisting program at Santa Fe Community College, sharing his passion for dentistry with future professionals.
