From a young age, Dr. Eric Wendelschafer was instilled with a strong work ethic, growing up in a family deeply rooted in the commercial construction industry. He spent much of his youth working alongside his family, learning the satisfaction of hands-on work and the value of dedication and craftsmanship.

Dr. Wendelschafer brings this same commitment and work ethic to his role as the owner and sole dentist at Great Smiles Dental Care in Surprise, a practice he has led since 2013. Motivated by his passion for improving patients' health and quality of life through exceptional dental care, he strives to offer high-quality services at a fair price. He is honored to serve the oral health needs of the community and is committed to delivering the best possible care to each patient who walks through the door.

Dr. Wendelschafer’s interest in dentistry was sparked during high school when he had the opportunity to shadow oral surgeons his mother worked for. It was then that he realized he wanted to pursue a career in dentistry. He never shied away from a challenge. As a student athlete, he earned a track scholarship while balancing the demands of studying, training, and working part-time installing metal roof panels in the Arizona heat. His determination led him to pursue a degree at the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health, where he graduated and then gained practical experience in a corporate dental setting in Mesa.

In time, Dr. Wendelschafer took over at Great Smiles Dental Care when the previous doctor retired, and he has since been dedicated to providing the communities of Surprise, Sun City, and beyond with healthy, beautiful smiles. He is passionate about helping his patients achieve their goals of good oral health and a fulfilling life through personalized, quality dental care. Dr. Wendelschafer is excited to welcome new patients to his practice and looks forward to working with each one to achieve lasting dental health.
