Dr. Greg Hawkins knew that dentistry was his calling after his own dentist helped him deal with a bad oral health situation as a child. He realized that he wanted to do the same for others and started on the track to becoming a dentist. Dr. Hawkins attended Holly Pond High School, then went on to Auburn University where he completed his undergraduate studies by 1983. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 1988. Since then, he has been a practicing dentist, working closely with his patients to treat their conditions and provide them with long-lasting solutions.

dental-implants-or-bridge

As adolescents, we lose our baby teeth as a natural part of growing up. However, in adulthood, losing teeth is often due to injury. Gum disease is the number one cause. Since missing teeth at this age isn’t natural, this means oral health complications. You could have difficulties eating. Problems speaking clearly may develop. Finally, you could risk damages to your smile, or even your facial structure. You need a skilled in-network dentist in Southtown, AL who can replace missing teeth. Fortunately, Doctors Network can help find a local dentist.

First, we will help connect you to a dedicated dentist in your location who accepts your insurance. After that, your new dentist can inspect your smile to understand the factors behind your missing teeth. For minor cases, a dental bridge could be placed, addressing one to three lost teeth in a row. For several missing teeth, partial dentures could offer a solution and restore bite function. Finally, a complete set of dentures could be custom-made. While most fulls and partial dentures are removable, they could be stablized with long-lasting dental implants. Dental implants act as natural teeth, and prevent negative changes to your jaw and facial structure following tooth loss.

If you live in the Southtown‘s neighborhoods and have lost your natural teeth, let us help. We can help you get started on receiving the tooth replacement you need. Model-worthy teeth are within reach, even if you’ve lost all of your teeth, and even if many years have elapsed since that happened!

P. S. Please celebrate our dental surgeons in Nashville, TN with us this week.

sleep-apnea-treatment

When you have a poor sleeping pattern, you may not assume a dentist could help. But in fact, dentists can often provide a comfortable and noninvasive option to treat sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) means that when you sleep, the soft tissues in the throat and the back of your mouth collapse and cause you to stop breathing. Patients literally stop breathing briefly until the brain notices a drop in oxygen. Even if you think you slept well, you’re actually sleep deprived! But when should you use the search tool on Doctors Network to find Southtown, AL dentists who could offer treatment with oral appliance therapy?

Sings of OSA could include chronic snoring. Daytime drowsiness, headaches, and even trouble with interpersonal relationships could occur too. With no intervention, sleep apnea could even affect your immune system and increase the risk of heart disease. When you suffer similar signs, consider finding out your treatment options. Sometimes, oral appliance therapy can be used to keep airways open, so you can finally sleep well.

This week we are celebrating our dental care providers near New York.

tooth-bonding

If you have a fractured tooth or a tooth that is misshapen, then you need cosmetic dentistry. With enameloplasty and tooth-color bonding in Southtown, AL, these cosmetic imperfections can be corrected in only one sitting. At Doctors Network, we aim to help connect you with a restorative dentist in Southtown, AL who takes new patients and provides the comprehensive treatments you need. You may not be aware just how much bonding and contouring can do in one appointment.

Dental bonding repairs cosmetic concerns effectively. The composite resin, a mix of glass-like and acrylic particles, is shaded and applied to the teeth. Southtown dentists also use this material to repair dental caries. During tooth contouring, the dentist simply sands the outer tooth structure to correct your damaged or malformed tooth.

This week we are celebrating our Brooklyn dentists. With these two procedures, these dentists can reshape malformed teeth, repair dental damage, mask unattractive teeth stains, and close spaces between teeth.

Periodontal disease is a common oral health issue. In fact, studies from the Centers for Disease Control reveal half of adults over thirty have gum disease. Without treatment, gum disease could reach an advanced stage. Known as periodontitis, this is actually one of the most common causes of adult tooth loss. All that to say, when you develop the symptoms of the disease, you need to see a professional as soon as possible. Inflamed and receding gums, especially with bleeding, are common indicators that you need to see a Southtown dentist that accepts new patients.

Doctors Network can facilitate finding dentists in Southtown AL that accept new patients and can offer a diagnosis after a dental examination. If there is any sign of periodontal concerns, then a treatment plan can be created. For the early stages, a deep cleaning followed by traditional cleanings every three to four months could help you avoid tooth loss. For the later stages of the disease, there are options like laser dentistry, pocket reduction, gum grafts, and more to protect your gums!

As children, many of us clench our teeth for short periods of time. The issue tends to pass on its own. But for some, bruxism could mean chronic teeth grinding into and throughout adulthood, and the pressure from clenching and grinding your teeth could injure your teeth. Cracks, chips, and worn-down structures could leave your smile vulnerable. You’re also more likely to develop cavities or even infected teeth, which is why if you grind your teeth, you should consider using Doctors Network’s search tool to book an online appointment with a dental professional in Southtown.

Your significant other may let you know that you have bruxism when you sleep. Otherwise, symptoms could include toothaches and tooth sensitivity. Treatment options vary. Some dentists bring relief by addressing the causes of teeth grinding. They could correct misalignment with clear aligners, or even replace missing teeth with prosthetics. Many offer treatment with custom and comfortable oral appliances. So don’t ignore these symptoms, talk to us about finding the right dentist in your area who accepts patients without dental insurance.

You can’t put a price on a full smile, but as we age, many of us struggle with tooth loss. Missing teeth could lead to trouble with eating and speaking, and can even lead to a prematurely aged appearance. To treat missing teeth, people often turn to implant-supported prosthetics. Unlike traditional prosthetics, such as dentures or bridges, these are connected to posts inserted into your jaw. Crowns or even prosthetics like dentures are locked into these implant posts. These then act as new roots, so your new teeth can last not ten years, but possibly a lifetime with proper care.

Are you ready to tackle your tooth loss with dental implants? If you are wondering how much a dental implant costs near you in Southtown, you are not alone, but first, you need to find a Southtown dentist who can offer prosthetic dentistry. Doctors Network can help you with this, connecting you to a dentist who not only can address your tooth loss, but also accepts walk-in patients. Same-day appointments are usually available. You can even sign up for a Doctors Network dental plan to decrease the cost of your procedure.

The dentist will carefully examine your smile. Underlying issues like gum disease may need to be treated before moving forward. But once completed, your dental implants will offer replacement teeth that look and function like natural teeth!

Over 16% of Alabama residents are over the age of 65, while almost 23% are under the age of 18. For both age groups, personalized dental care is especially important. Older patients often require restoration or prosthodontic care to replace lost teeth; younger patients may need additional ongoing preventive measures, such as orthodontics, to avoid more serious issues later in life. On top of routine general dental care, treatment for seniors and children can cause the costs of your family’s dental care to skyrocket. Fortunately, Doctors Network offers families throughout Alabama a highly affordable alternative to managing dental care costs with a direct dental plan.
