A beach day isn’t complete without the proper protective gear; think sunhat, sunglasses, umbrella, and sunscreen. Just like you wouldn’t go to the beach without the right equipment, don’t maintain your oral health without the best, dentist-approved tools. Use highly-rated fluoride toothpaste to help protect your teeth from your Florida diet—the sweet and sour goodness of a Key lime pie can lead to cavities without proper oral care. When it comes to toothbrushes, use a new one every 3-4 months, and always look for brushes with the American Dental Association (ADA) seal of approval. Lastly, look for a floss that won’t shed or fray between your teeth. If you lather up on sunscreen before every beach day, then you know the importance of routines. The final, and most important step to a good oral care routine is scheduling regular appointments with your dentist. A beautiful smile is just a call away.

Alligators and snapping turtles aren’t the only things that bite back when you least expect it. Bacteria in your mouth can go undetected for months—even years—before causing your teeth and gums discomfort, pain, and potentially life-long damage. With good oral health, you can indulge in Florida-style BBQ and classic Key lime pie without a care. It can also help prevent bad breath, which keeps more people away than gator-infested waters do! Luckily, you can keep the bacteria at bay with the right daily care routine and regular visits to the dentist.

Tampa provides us with a rare opportunity to experience modern city life and pure, untouched nature nearly in the same place. The Hillsborough River is only a short drive away from the city, meaning residents and visitors can enjoy its natural wonders and beautiful wildlife anytime, including blue herons, storks, river otters, and classic Florida gators. Many conservation projects keep the river looking just as it did hundreds of thousands of years ago! And just like the river relies on us to conserve it, your teeth rely on you to maintain them. The Florida wilderness isn’t the only thing that needs your attention; talk to your dentist today about how you can maintain your oral health for life.

What are dental dentures?

p
panoramic-shooter-573

Dentures, often referred to as dental dentures, are removable prosthetic devices used to restore or replace missing teeth and surrounding soft tissues. They are custom-designed to fit a person's own mouth and restore both the looks and functionality of natural teeth. Dentures can be an acceptable option for individuals who have lost a few or all of their teeth due to many reasons, such as tooth decay, gum disease, or trauma (injury). There are the main types of dentures: 1. Complete Dentures: These are made whenever all natural teeth are missing in either the lower or upper jaw, or both. Complete dentures consist of a full set of artificial teeth secured on an acrylic base that mimics the looks and color of the gums. They are held in place through suction (surface tension) or denture adhesives. 2. Partial Dentures: They are utilized when at least a few natural teeth remain in the jaw. Partial dentures consist of fake teeth attached to a metal or acrylic framework that is secured with metal clasps onto the existing teeth. They help fill in gaps (empty spaces) and prevent the remaining natural teeth from moving and shifting. Key points regarding dentures: • Customization: Dentures are crafted to match the shape, size, and color of the individual's natural teeth closely for a natural-looking smile. • Adjustments: It may take time for patients to get used to wearing dentures. Multiple follow-up and adjustments with the dentist are common to ensure appropriate fit and comfort. • Care: Dentures require regular cleanings to maintain oral hygiene. They should not be worn at nights and soaked in a denture solution or water. • Lifespan: Changes in the jawbone and gum tissue over time can affect the retention of dentures. Dentures usually need to be relined (re-based), or replaced periodically. Dentures provide a functional and somewhat cosmetic solution for patients with missing teeth. They allow them to eat, speak, and smile with confidence. It's crucial to consult with a dentist to determine the best type of denture based on individual needs and oral health situation.

It was so easy to find a doctor and make an appointment. I didn't have to take hours to call different offices and find out who takes my insurance and who doesn't.

Rebecca B.
I'm a freelancer, so I can't buy insurance easily, so I always ended up paying a lot for doctors' visits. I signed up for a Doctors Network dental plan, and my dental cleanings cost only $25 now. If you don't have dental insurance I highly recommend it.

I fell off my bike and chipped my front tooth. I was able to find and book an appointment online right away. Next time I need an appointment I'll try Doctors Network again.
