Where The Girl Scout Cookies Were Born
In 1917, the Mistletoe Girl Scout Troop in Muskogee, Oklahoma, baked the first box of Girl Scout cookies. They sold them in their high school cafeteria as a community service project and they were a big hit, leading to the tradition of yearly Girl Scout cookie sales that we all enjoy today. But, while the Sooner State may be the Home of the Girl Scout cookie, eating too many can leave lasting damage to your teeth. Excess sugars can lead to plaque buildup, cavities, gum disease, and worse health issues if not taken care of. That’s not to say you shouldn’t enjoy a sweet treat now and then.
