Dr. Greg Hawkins knew that dentistry was his calling after his own dentist helped him deal with a bad oral health situation as a child. He realized that he wanted to do the same for others and started on the track to becoming a dentist. Dr. Hawkins attended Holly Pond High School, then went on to Auburn University where he completed his undergraduate studies by 1983. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 1988. Since then, he has been a practicing dentist, working closely with his patients to treat their conditions and provide them with long-lasting solutions.

When a tooth becomes infected, treatment is necessary. Lack of treatment means the tooth could essentially die. At this stage, the tooth might require extraction. Otherwise, the infection moves into other parts of the smile. Often, the ideal treatment for an infected tooth is root canal therapy. The procedure is effective, but sometimes a root canalled tooth becomes infected again and requires additional care. You may need to book an online appointment with one of our knowledgeable Athens dentists for further treatments.

Root canal treatment involves removing the tissues from the tooth’s interior. The interiors and root canals are thoroughly cleaned, and a restorative material known as gutta-percha is then added to the tooth. Often, the tooth is then capped with a porcelain crown. The restoration is often custom-made to protect the tooth and also look natural. But if there are complications with the procedure, the health of the tooth could be compromised. The tooth could begin developing symptoms, such as toothaches and complications with eating. If you experience this, do not risk the loss of your teeth. Doctors Network can connect you with an emergency dental services provider in Athens, AL that can offer another root canal and accepts new patients.

If you don’t have dental coverage don’t let that discourage you! Doctors Network can offer a discount dental plan to make your treatment fit your budget. With a simple monthly rate, you can undergo necessary root canal retreatment without breaking the bank!

When a tooth is severely damaged, it could become an abscessed tooth. The presence of abscess means serious discomfort, and without treatment, it could lead to missing teeth. This is why your tooth may need treatment. Fortunately, there are options available to treat an infection. Our network can help connect you to a Athens dental professional for root canal therapy. We can also help find a dentist that accepts private patients.

A dental abscess means that harmful anaerobic bacteria have made contact with interior nerve tissues. The pulp is the nerve center of the tooth, and it ensures a functional tooth. Lack of intervention for an abscess could allow tooth loss. A common warning sign of trouble could include toothaches. Don’t ignore a potential symptom. Talk to our team about finding a Athens dental professional who accepts private patients and payment plan options.

A root canal procedure is a gentle endodontic treatment that can be completed in one sitting. Essentially, after the dentist numbs the tooth, the infected tissues are removed from within. The interior of the tooth is cleaned, and a special restorative material is added. The last step involves capping the tooth with a custom-made dental crown. The crown is designed to protect the tooth and appear esthetically pleasing. This procedure stops the spread of infection.

Good dental hygiene habits can help lower your risk of future cavities and dental infections. Routine six-month visits help as well. If you’re looking for root canal therapy in Athens for dental infection, contact Doctors Network or schedule an online appointment. You have options, and we know how to find practices that accept private patients.

It is essential for your little ones to visit a dental professional every six months for checkups and cleanings. By teaching children great oral health habits, you are ensuring that they have the knowledge to have healthy smiles for many years. If you are looking for a kids dentist in Athens who accepts uninsured patients, you are on the right website.

In addition to offering biannual dental checkups and cleanings, pediatric dentists on Doctors Network also provide your kids with protective sealants. These are small pieces of BPA-free acrylic that dentists paint onto their molars. They work as a protective film that forms a shield between their permanent teeth and bacteria. This ultimately prevents the risk of tooth decay by up to eighty percent. It is a simple treatment that is very effective at preventing cavities in the future.

Fluoride treatments are another great tool that your kids’ dentists provide. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that helps strengthen your child’s enamel layer. While enamel is one of the most durable substances our bodies produce, it can still weaken over time. When this occurs, your child’s teeth become more susceptible to dental caries. Fluoride treatment prevents this from happening. Using fluoride toothpaste can also help. To learn more, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with one of our network dental professionals in Athens.

Many individuals would be ecstatic to have a whiter smile. When you stroll down the aisles of any pharmacy, you see numerous products that tout their teeth whitening abilities. If you have tried any of these, you know that they almost always provide lackluster results. However, professional teeth whitening can actually give you a brighter smile. If you are looking for a dentist in Athens, AL that accepts self-pay patients, we can help you find one that offers professional teeth whitening.

When you visit your Athens dental care provider, they can provide you with either an in-office or even at-home treatment option. With the in-office option, you will typically be out within about an hour, and you will have noticeably whiter teeth. When you come in, your dentist will apply a bleaching gel to your front teeth that is then activated with a specialized light that removes discoloration.

If you would prefer to get an at-home treatment, your dentist will give you a set of custom trays that you can fill with a safe bleaching solution. You will put these on for a few hours each day for about two weeks. Once this treatment is complete, you will have a brighter smile. If you would like to schedule a consultation with a Athens dentist that takes self-pay patients, we can help you find a fantastic one.

If it has been over six months since you last went to a dentist, you probably should schedule a consultation soon. When you go in for consistent visits, your dentist can thoroughly examine your teeth to make sure nothing is amiss. This helps prevent cavities from occurring, minimizing the chance of needing more expensive procedures at a later time. If you need to schedule an online appointment with a dentist in Athens, AL that accepts patients who are uninsured we can help you find a great match.

When you go in for an exam, your dentist will begin with a professional cleaning. This will remove plaque and tartar that is difficult to remove at home — even with great brushing and flossing habits. The dental cleaning will leave your teeth feeling rejuvenated.

Once your cleaning is completed, your Athens dentist will begin his examination. During this portion of your visit, the dentist will thoroughly look at your mouth to identify any potential problems. In case anything is out of the ordinary, they will explain your treatment options. The Athens dental practice we set you up with will offer a wide range of services to address a variety of dental needs. If you visit the dentist regularly they can keep track of the health of your teeth. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment with a dentist that takes patients who are uninsured, we can help you find a great one.

Over 16% of Alabama residents are over the age of 65, while almost 23% are under the age of 18. For both age groups, personalized dental care is especially important. Older patients often require restoration or prosthodontic care to replace lost teeth; younger patients may need additional ongoing preventive measures, such as orthodontics, to avoid more serious issues later in life. On top of routine general dental care, treatment for seniors and children can cause the costs of your family’s dental care to skyrocket. Fortunately, Doctors Network offers families throughout Alabama a highly affordable alternative to managing dental care costs with a direct dental plan.
