While attending university, he also completed a dental externship program at Lehigh Valley Hospital. He went to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania’s Maxillofacial Surgery Department to complete an internship program as well. During this internship, he spent time treating children at the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Barati also spent time as an educator, teaching the next generation of dentists as a part-time teacher at Penn while working at several private practices. In 2005, he began working with Dr. Tom Forte, who he continues to work with today. I hate visiting the dentist so much that I haven’t been in years, but when I finally decided it was time to come in I was very anxious when I came in for my first visit at Academy Dental in Hamilton, NJ. I’ve been having a lot of toothaches and wanted to see what was going on. The staff strived to make comfortable and were very kind. I was only in there for two hours, but they found the problem and fixed it right away. I had imagined that this would be just an assessment and then I would have to make another appointment to get the work done, but they were able to get it all done then and there. I went back a week ago for a cleaning and some fillings and everything was super easy. I'm so happy to no longer be in pain because of toothaches, and my teeth look and feel great. She was gentle, detailed, and explained everything she did; she also considers my overall health when looking at my teeth and mouth. She’s so intelligent! I love this dental office a lot. Dr. Khalil is great at explaining things too, including my options and the associated costs. It’s the closest to painless dentistry that I’ve ever gotten - and I’ve been to a lot of different dentists! I actually recommended them to a few of my South River friends, especially those who are scared of the dentist and have been avoiding going to one. Even they love it here!
