Dr. Schmidt attended the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. Dr. Schmidt has been a part of Alameda Family Dental Practice since 2004. He also served as the dental director at Sonrisas Community Clinic in Half Moon Bay, California, and taught at the University of the Pacific Dental School for several years. His areas of interest include research on jaw joint disorders and providing care for both children and adults who experience dental anxiety. Dr. Schmidt is also a certified Invisalign provider. In 2014, Dr. Schmidt was president of the Alameda County Dental Society and served as a delegate to the California Dental Association for three years.
