For Dr. Joshua Barkhordar, dentistry runs in the family. Dentistry is his passion and his goal has always been to make his patients feel and look better when they leave his office than they did when they came in. He graduated from the School of Dentistry at the University of California San Fransisco in 2007, then moved to Chicago where he completed a two-year advanced Dental Implant residency at the University of Illinois.

Today, Dr. Josh stays current with modern dental technology by taking continuing education courses. He has taken courses on Periodontics, Prosthodontics, Oral Surgery & wisdom teeth, Cosmetic Dentistry, Endodontics, Dental Implants, Air Abrasion, Laser treatment, and Invisalign.

Dr. Sima Khavaran earned her dental degree in 1994 and has since become a respected practitioner in the field. She is a former clinical instructor at the University of Pacific, where she helped train future dental professionals. Dr. Khavaran holds an MFDS certificate from the Royal College of England and is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association (ADA), Los Angeles Dental Society, and the California Dental Association (CDA).

With a strong commitment to ongoing professional development, Dr. Khavaran has focused much of her continuing education on cosmetic dentistry and full mouth reconstruction to provide her patients with the highest level of care.

Outside of her dental practice, Dr. Khavaran enjoys traveling and immersing herself in different cultures. She is also passionate about yoga and Reiki, which help her maintain balance and mindfulness. Dr. Vahe Antanesian is an experienced General Dentist with a focus on implants, cosmetic dentistry, and family care. Dr. Antanesian's academic journey began at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1994. Dedicated to advancing his expertise, Dr. Antanesian has pursued specialized training in Implant Dentistry and conservative restorative techniques. With years of hands-on experience, he has been placing and restoring dental implants since 2005. Dr. Faye G. Uy is a highly dedicated and experienced dentist, committed to providing exceptional care to her patients. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of the Philippines in 1996 and further honed her skills by completing a postgraduate residency in Oral Surgery at the Philippine General Hospital. Afterward, she practiced dentistry privately in the Philippines until 2006, when she moved to Southern California and continued her work in both corporate and private dental settings. In 2010, Dr. Uy opened iSmile Dental Care in Lakewood, where she has been proud to serve the local community and its neighboring areas. Dr. Jay M. Azling is a proud Southern California native, originally from Orange County. After graduating from Canyon High School in 1980, he attended the University of California, Davis, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with honors, along with a Minor in Psychology. In 1988, Dr. Azling graduated from the esteemed UCLA School of Dentistry with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS)—a milestone he fondly marks, despite the rivalry with Trojan fans!

Dr. Azling launched his dental career in Cerritos in 1988, initially working as an Associate Dentist under the mentorship of Dr. Chris Martin. The pair became partners in 1991 and enjoyed a successful collaboration for 17 years until Dr. Martin’s retirement in 2005. Since then, Dr. Azling has continued serving the Cerritos community with a focus on family dentistry, as well as cosmetic and rehabilitative care. He has further honed his skills through advanced training at the renowned Las Vegas and Seattle Institutes for Advanced Dental Education.

Always looking for ways to enhance patient experiences, Dr. Azling embraces the latest dental technologies and state-of-the-art materials, striving to make every visit more comfortable and enjoyable. Dr. Jared Wu is a dedicated and compassionate dentist who brings a genuine passion for helping others to every aspect of his practice. Dr. Robert Goodis is a highly experienced dentist with over 35 years of practice. Following this, Dr. Goodis completed a general practice residency at the Long Beach VA Medical Center in 1983. With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Jatin Shah has dedicated his career to providing exceptional dental care. He earned his degree from the Government Dental College & Hospital in Bombay in 1982. After taking the California Dental Board exam, Dr. Shah began practicing in Los Angeles in 2003. In 2007, he opened his practice in La Habra, where he resides with his family, and is known for being available as an Emergency Dentist in the area. Dr. Charles Kim earned his degree Cum Laude from UCLA School of Dentistry and brings 15 years of clinical experience to his practice. For the past decade, he has successfully owned and operated his own private practice in Orange County. Recently, Dr. Kim has been seeking an opportunity to relocate closer to his home in Pasadena. He and his wife, Hannah, a local pharmacist, have two young children, Madison and Colin. On weekends, Dr. Kim enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, reading, and building LEGO creations for his kids as a professional hobby.

Dr. John Scalas is a Southern California native with deep ties to the community. He grew up in the area, attending St. Cyprian School and St. John Bosco High School. After earning his undergraduate degree in biology from California State University, Long Beach, Dr. Scalas went on to receive his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the prestigious University of Southern California. Dr. Jeffrey L. Cohen, DDS, is a highly experienced and accomplished dentist who brings an extensive educational background and a wealth of clinical expertise to his practice. He graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Emory University School of Dentistry, where he studied from 1980 to 1984. Following his dental education, Dr. Cohen completed a Fellowship in General Dentistry at Yale University School of Medicine between 1985 and 1986. He also attended Claremont Men’s College from 1977 to 1980.

Dr. Cohen’s commitment to continuous education is evident through his extensive hands-on training in various advanced dental techniques. He has received specialized instruction in surgical site preparation under Dr. Joe Mehranfar, bone augmentation and bone grafting from Nobel Biocare, as well as implant placement training from both Nobel Biocare and Straumann USA Implants. He has also studied advanced endodontic residency under Dr. John West and Dr. Stephen Buchanan and participated in advanced occlusion courses with Dr. Frank Spear.

Dr. Burton Schnierow, DDS, has been serving the dental community for an impressive 58 years at Schnierow Dental. He began his dental journey at age 16, working in a dental lab, before earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California (USC). He then went on to graduate from USC School of Dentistry in 1962 at the age of 25. Afterward, Dr. Schnierow further honed his skills while serving in the Army, where he gained invaluable experience. In 1964, Dr. Schnierow opened his own practice in Hawthorne, where he has had the privilege of treating multiple generations of families—many of whom now bring in their grandchildren for care. Over the years, he has been blessed with a devoted and talented staff, whom he considers part of his extended dental family. Dr. Dan Pinar has been a dedicated dental professional since 1998, known for his gentle touch, surgical precision, and patient-focused approach. Originally from a small town in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Dr. Pinar completed both his undergraduate and DDS degrees at the University of Michigan over the course of eight years. After graduation, he moved to New York City, where he practiced dentistry for 11 years before relocating to Los Angeles in January 2009 to enjoy a warmer climate and seek new professional opportunities.

In 2009, Dr. Pinar joined the dental office of Dr. James K. McFadden in West Hollywood. When Dr. McFadden retired in 2016, Dr. Pinar took over the practice, which has since evolved into the Pinar & Wagner practice.
