Dr. Nathalie Selvanathan, DDS, earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in India, where she began her dental career serving in rural communities. Driven by a growing passion for dentistry, she pursued further education in the United States. She completed a brief internship in Prosthodontics at the University of California, San Francisco, while attending dental school at the University of the Pacific. She also pursued advanced training, including a mini-residency in dental implants, and continues her professional development through SPEAR education. After graduating from the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, Dr. Selvanathan spent over a decade practicing in Central California. Recognizing the diverse needs of the Hispanic community in the area, she taught herself Spanish to better communicate and serve her patients. Her appreciation for cultural diversity has deep roots, stemming from her early years in Nigeria, North Africa. After moving to southern India for elementary school, she was immersed in a vibrant mix of French and Vietnamese cultures, prompting her to learn French in addition to various Indian dialects. Her global experiences have not only shaped her worldview but also enriched her approach to patient care, allowing her to treat individuals from various backgrounds with respect, empathy, and understanding. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Selvanathan enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Dr. Karthik Raghuraman, and their two daughters, engaging in outdoor activities such as cycling and kayaking. A lover of classical dance and embroidery, she applies her artistic talents to her dental practice, bringing a unique combination of art and science to her in-house lab work and intraoral procedures in Citrus Heights, CA. Dr. Eric Schmidt was raised in Boulder, Colorado, and earned both his BA and MA degrees in biology and psychology from the University of Colorado in 1988 and 1991, respectively. After relocating to San Francisco, he worked in biotech research for several years before pursuing a career in dentistry. Dr. Schmidt attended the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. Dr. Schmidt has been a part of Alameda Family Dental Practice since 2004. He also served as the dental director at Sonrisas Community Clinic in Half Moon Bay, California, and taught at the University of the Pacific Dental School for several years. His areas of interest include research on jaw joint disorders and providing care for both children and adults who experience dental anxiety. Dr. Schmidt is also a certified Invisalign provider. In 2014, Dr. Schmidt was president of the Alameda County Dental Society and served as a delegate to the California Dental Association for three years. He also contributed to the peer review committee of the dental society. In recognition of his contributions to ethics, teaching, community service, and the dental profession, Dr. Schmidt was named a fellow of the American College of Dentists in 2016. In his free time, Dr. Schmidt enjoys traveling with his wife and son, playing with his two dogs, cycling, playing guitar, and keeping up with the latest dental literature.

Dr. Rupi Kaur has called Roseville home since 2006, where she lives with her husband, daughter Rehmat, and son Saroop. A proud graduate of the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, Dr. Kaur earned her DDS and has been practicing general and family dentistry since 2006. Her expertise spans restorative, implant, and cosmetic dentistry, and in 2018, she took the next step in her career by opening her own dental practice. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Kaur enjoys spending quality time with her family. Her personal interests include watching movies, cooking, and traveling to new destinations. Dr. Kaur is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and the Sacramento Area Dental Society. She has also given back to her community through volunteer work with SCOPE and CDA Cares. Her academic achievements include earning a spot on the Dean’s List at the University of the Pacific and receiving the Tao Kappa Omega Award from the University of the Pacific Dental School. In her downtime, Dr. Kaur enjoys reading the Harry Potter series and watching TV shows like Everybody Loves Raymond, Friends and The Big Bang Theory.

Dr. Ross Lai has been a dedicated dental professional for over 35 years. Since earning his degree from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in 1985, he has run a private general restorative practice in downtown San Francisco, with a strong focus on implant dentistry.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Lai has held an academic position at Highland Hospital's Oral Surgery Residency Program in Oakland. He was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to the Dental Board of California in 2012, where he contributed as the Committee Chairman for Licensure and Certification. Dr. Lai also currently serves as a National Board Examiner.

He is an active member of the California Dental Association, the San Francisco Dental Society, the American Dental Association and the Academy of Osseointegration.

Outside of Work Dr. Lexie and her husband, Dr. Dao, married in 2011, reside in Roseville with their three daughters. When she’s not in the office, Dr. Lexie enjoys spending time with her family, working out, trying new restaurants, and traveling to different parts of the world to experience new cultures. Community Involvement Dr. Lexie is deeply committed to giving back to the community. She has organized and participated in several volunteer dental missions, both locally and abroad. In addition, Dr. Lexie supports the Sacramento Dental Society’s Smile for Kids Program by adopting children annually, helping provide orthodontic care to underserved children in the area.
